What Happens to the Junk?
For over 20 years as 1-800-GOT-JUNK? throughout Western Washington, we have made our best efforts to upcycle the items that we collect from our customers' homes and businesses.
But in 2024, we decided to take it a step further. We created a separate business called the Repurposed Center. The RePurpose Center was created to maximize the amount of junk we kept out of the landfill.
With dedicated facilities and staff at RePurpose Center, we could devote full-time attention to sorting and salvaging the items 1-800-GOT-JUNK picked up.
Revenue from resale and recycling supported the effort and allowed us to increase our footprint and ability to store items for local charities, non-profits, or other outlets. This lets us put back to use thousands of addition items we had taken away from our clients - something we know they value.
With six facilities in Western Washington, Repurpose Center is able to keep hundreds of thousands of pounds of items out of landfills each week. We have donated thousands of pieces of furniture and tens of thousands of small household items to local charity partners such as Habitat for Humanity, Northwest Furniture Bank, Thrive to Survive, Big Blue Truck, etc.
